MDPE Compression Pipe Fitting, 63 mm

This compression fitting is made for 63 mm MDPE (medium-density polyethylene) pipe and comes in the four shapes a pipe run most often needs. The 90 degree elbow takes the line round a corner, the equal tee splits off a branch, the straight joiner connects two lengths end to end and the end stop closes off an open end. Each option is a single fitting, so you can order exactly the shapes your layout calls for.

The body is moulded polypropylene, and every pipe end of the fitting has its own ribbed nut that screws onto the body: two on the elbow and the straight joiner, three on the tee and one on the end stop. Tightening the nut grips the pipe and makes a mechanical joint, so no fusion welding equipment, glue or heat is involved, and the moulded ribs on each nut give a positive grip while it is being screwed down.

Fittings like these are sized by the outside diameter of the pipe, so measure across your MDPE pipe before ordering: a 63 mm fitting is made for 63 mm pipe and for no other size. When planning a run, allow one elbow for each change of direction, a tee for each branch, a joiner wherever two lengths meet and an end stop on each open end.

The fittings are made in the United Kingdom and are intended for water and irrigation pipework, from a feed line across a garden or allotment to a longer run on a farm. They suit plumbers, landscapers and groundworkers, as well as DIY users extending, repairing or reworking a line of their own.
