MDPE to Copper Pipe Adaptor Kit, 20/25/32 mm to 15/22/28 mm

This kit is made for the point where a 20, 25 or 32 mm MDPE water pipe has to meet copper pipework. The two materials need different fittings, so the kit pairs one made for each side: a compression fitting that takes the MDPE pipe and a brass compression adaptor that takes the copper pipe. The two parts screw together on a BSP thread, giving one continuous connection from polyethylene to copper.

Both pipe ends are compression joints, made by pushing the pipe into the fitting and tightening its nut, so neither side calls for soldering, heat or solvent cement. In the middle, the female BSP thread of the MDPE fitting takes the matching male thread of the brass adaptor. That threaded joint is sealed with PTFE thread seal tape, and every combination is also offered with a roll in the kit if you do not have one to hand.

Choose the kit by the MDPE and copper pipes you are connecting and by the route the pipe takes. For 15 mm or 22 mm copper the MDPE side takes 20 mm or 25 mm pipe, and for 28 mm copper it takes 25 mm or 32 mm pipe; every size pairing is offered with an elbow or a straight MDPE fitting. The two parts meet on a 1/2 inch BSP thread in the 15 mm kits, a 3/4 inch BSP thread in the 22 mm kits and a 1 inch BSP thread in the 28 mm kits. The elbow turns the run through 90 degrees at the joint, which helps where the pipe has to change direction, while the straight fitting keeps it running in line.

It suits plumbers and DIYers joining an MDPE run to existing copper plumbing, for example on a supply to a garden tap, garage or outbuilding, or where a section of old pipe is being replaced.
