Underground Irrigation Valve Box, Mini, HDPE

The Mini valve box is a compact underground chamber for the point in an automatic irrigation system where a single valve has to sit below ground. Sunk to its rim with the lid finishing at surface level, it keeps an electric solenoid or a manual valve out of wet soil, away from spades and mower blades, and findable again months later when a zone needs adjusting.

The body is moulded in high-density polyethylene and is deliberately bottomless. It stands over a bed of gravel so that rain, and any water released when the valve is opened, drains straight into the ground rather than pooling around the fittings. The walls are supplied uncut, which lets you make the pipe entries exactly where your pipework arrives, and the flared, ribbed skirt around the base gives compacted backfill something to hold on to.

The lid overlaps the rim rather than dropping into it, and is pulled down onto the body by a single stainless steel screw, so it stays put under a mower wheel and only comes off when you want it to. Its face is moulded in a raised hexagonal pattern for grip in the wet, and the polyethylene is stabilised against UV so the colour holds through seasons outdoors.

Two lid colours cover the two places a valve box usually ends up. Green disappears into a lawn, a border or any planted area; grey reads as stone and sits far more quietly in a path, a gravel bed or block paving. Both share the same black body, so a garden can mix them without looking mismatched.

It suits domestic and allotment irrigation as well as small commercial and public planting schemes: anywhere a single valve needs to live underground and still be serviceable in a couple of minutes. Set level with the finished ground, it is walked over without being noticed until the day you need it.
