Inline Brass Ball Valve Kit, 25mm Hosetails, Clips and PTFE

This kit puts a hand-operated valve into a hose line. Fitted between two sections of 25mm hose, it gives the line an on/off point of its own, so the water can be stopped part way along without taking the hose apart. The hosetails, clips and PTFE tape for the joints come with it; the hose itself is not included.

At its centre is a 1 inch BSP female-to-female brass ball valve, opened and closed by a lever printed with ON and OFF. Two brass hosetails screw into the ends of the valve. Each one has a 1 inch BSP male thread on one side, a hexagonal collar in the middle and a ridged 25mm barb on the other side, which the hose is pushed over.

Two double-wire hose clips in the 25-29mm size hold the hose on the barbs, and a roll of white PTFE tape is supplied for the threaded joints between the hosetails and the valve. It is worth knowing that the two sizes in the name describe different things: 1 inch BSP is the thread size shared by the valve and the hosetails, while 25mm is the hose connection on the barbs.

The kit suits anyone who wants on/off control in a run of 25mm water hose rather than only at its ends. Before fitting, check that your hose fits the 25mm barbs and the clips, and that the components suit the water installation you have in mind.
