Automatic Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box, Open-Top, WiFi

Scooping a litter tray is the part of cat ownership nobody enjoys, and this open-top model takes it off the daily list. A rotating drum turns once your cat has left, a fixed sieve holds back the clean litter, and the clumps that remain tip into a bag-lined drawer at the base. What is left behind is a level bed of fresh litter, ready for the next visit, with nothing for you to do but change the bag every few days.

The open format is deliberate. Plenty of cats simply refuse a hooded, tunnel-style unit, and the low front edge here means the box still reads as a tray rather than a machine: your cat can see out, and you can see in. Two detachable, paw-shaped side casings close off the sides of the drum, a honeycomb step mat slides into the base to catch litter carried out on paws, and four screw-in legs lift the whole unit clear of the floor so it stands level and sweeps out easily.

Body and drum are moulded in ABS and polypropylene and wipe down with a damp cloth. The drum itself lifts out and the sieve inside unclips, so both can be rinsed under a tap when the monthly deep clean comes round. The waste drawer pulls out from the front, takes a fresh bag from the supplied roll, and seats a solid deodoriser cartridge in a recess in its underside.

Three buttons and a small digital window sit on the front panel: one starts a cleaning cycle, one empties the drum when you want to change the litter completely, and one pairs the unit with your home network. Once it is on WiFi, the free Tuya Smart app for iOS and Android adds remote starts, cleaning schedules and a Manual Mode that suspends automatic cycles. The radio works on the 2.4 GHz band only, so a router broadcasting a single combined network will need its 2.4 GHz band available before pairing.

Infrared sensors inside the drum and a presence radar around the rim stop the cycle if a cat comes back mid-rotation, and the display shows a numbered code to explain why it paused. It suits single-cat and multi-cat homes alike, provided the cat is comfortably over a kilogramme; for kittens under six months, cats under 1.5 kg and pregnant or nursing cats the manufacturer asks you to switch on Manual Mode and clean on demand. Fine-grained clumping mineral litter gives the best results, as tofu-based litter clumps poorly and tends to stick inside the drum.
