Water Butt Linking and Overflow Hose Kit, 25mm, 2m

This kit gathers the parts for connecting suitable rainwater containers with hose. Fit a tank connector into the wall of a water butt, push the corrugated hose onto its tail and hold it there with a clip, and you can link one butt to another or carry the overflow from a butt away along the hose. There is 2 m of 25 mm hose in total, with two tank connectors and two clips, which gives one clip for each place where the hose meets a connector.

The hose is black, with a corrugated wall. Each tank connector is a straight fitting with a 3/4 inch BSP male thread at one end, which passes through a hole in the tank wall and is held there by a hexagonal backnut, and a ribbed 25 mm hose tail at the other. The clips are double-wire loops drawn tight by a screw, and each one goes onto the hose before the hose is pushed over the tail.

The two sizes quoted for this kit describe different parts of the joint. The 25 mm figure is the size of the hose and of the hose tails it fits over, while 3/4 inch BSP is the thread that goes into the tank wall, so the two are not interchangeable measurements. This kit is also not the same as a pack of hose alone, a pack of hose with clips, or a kit built around 1 inch BSP tank connectors.

It suits gardeners and allotment holders who keep more than one water butt, or who want the overflow from a butt carried away along a hose. Before installing, check the wall of each tank, the hole the connector needs and how the connector fits. Water butts and tanks, additional pipework and installation tools are not supplied.
