Double Burner Butane Camping Stove with Hard Carry Case

This is a double burner camping stove of the cassette type: two gas rings built into one low, flat body, each fed by its own butane cartridge held in a chamber at the end of the stove. The two sides are entirely separate – separate valves, separate knobs, separate ignition – so the stove behaves like two single burners that happen to share a lid, and a pan and a kettle can be on the go at the same time.

The body is steel, finished in black, with an enamelled top and a lift-out drip tray over each burner. Tray and pan support come away as one piece, so the part that catches the spills is the part that can be carried to the sink. Under them sit aluminium alloy burner heads, ported around the ring so the heat is spread across the base of a pan. Each burner has piezo ignition built into its control knob, and each cartridge is clamped by a lock lever with an indicator alongside it that shows when the cartridge is seated correctly. An automatic shut-off inside the regulator cuts the gas supply if the pressure in a cartridge rises too far.

When it is not in use the stove packs into a hard plastic carry case with a moulded handle and two latches, which is also how it arrives – there is no cardboard retail box to keep afterwards. A spare brass jet comes bagged inside the cartridge compartment, and the illustrated manual is included.

It suits campers and caravanners cooking outside on the pitch, allotment holders, anglers and garden barbecues, and it is worth keeping in a cupboard as a way to cook outdoors when the power is off. Two cassette butane cartridges are needed to use both burners and are not supplied; the standard notched-collar cans stocked by supermarkets and camping shops are the right ones. The stove is for outdoor use only, on a level surface, and is not intended for commercial catering.
