3D Pop-Up Love Card, Squirrel Couple Under Oak Tree

A greeting card that does the talking before you write a word. Closed, it is quietly handsome: a kraft-brown front with a heart cut into it, framing a glimpse of what is folded away inside. Opened, the whole scene lifts off the page at once – an oak tree whose canopy forms a heart, a pair of squirrels tucked in at the foot of the trunk, and a little die-cut charm reading Love swinging from a low branch.

The canopy is built from layers of laser-cut paper leaves in red, coral, orange and tan, cut finely enough that daylight comes through the foliage. The layers are assembled by hand so the tree holds its shape each time the card is opened, and the folded paper trunk anchors the structure to the spine. A scatter of fallen leaves is printed across the base panel to finish the scene, while the inner panels stay plain white with hearts embossed into the corners.

Both sides of the inside are left completely blank, and that is the point. There is no printed verse to write around, so the same card can carry an anniversary message one year and a thank-you the next. It suits Valentine’s Day, an engagement, a wedding, a first year together, or the kind of thank-you that deserves more than a text message, and because the design is a squirrel pair rather than a slogan it reads just as well sent to a couple as to a partner.

It folds down completely flat, slips into the white envelope supplied and posts like any other card, springing back into shape the moment it is opened at the other end. Few people put this one away in a drawer afterwards – stood open on a shelf, a windowsill or a mantelpiece it holds its own as a small paper sculpture long after the occasion has passed.
