3D Pop-Up Birthday Card with Lights and Music, Black

This is a birthday card built around the moment it is opened. The black cover with its gold script gives nothing away; open it and a layered 3D cake spelling out Happy Birthday rises from the fold, the familiar Happy Birthday tune starts to play and the lights switch on by themselves.

The candle is where it becomes interactive. Blow towards it from a few centimetres away, just as you would blow out a real birthday candle, and the two fireworks behind the cake glow in changing colours in time with the music. It turns opening a card into a small celebration of its own.

Inside, the pop-up cake is built up in tiers with metallic gold edging and patterned lettering, standing in front of a printed party scene of balloons, gold stars and wrapped presents. A framed white panel on the inside page leaves room for a handwritten message, and the card folds flat again when it is closed.

To make it personal, the set includes an insert card of gold numbers from 0 to 9 for adding the age to the cake, and a separate message card for anyone who would rather keep the inside page clear or has more to say. An envelope is included, and everything arrives together in a clear outer bag.

It suits a birthday for family, friends or colleagues, whether the card is handed over at a party, left on the breakfast table or given alongside a present.
