Outside Tap Kit, 3/4 inch Brass Tap, 32 mm MDPE Wall Plate

This kit puts a working outside tap on the end of a 32 mm MDPE water pipe. It brings together the three parts that have to agree with each other for the job: a wall plate elbow that receives the pipe and fixes to the wall, a 3/4 inch brass bib tap that screws into the elbow, and a roll of PTFE thread seal tape for the joint between them. Because the elbow’s outlet and the tap’s inlet share the same 3/4 inch BSP thread, there is no adaptor to track down between pipe and tap.

The elbow takes 32 mm MDPE pipe, the size measured across the outside of the pipe, in a compression end: the pipe pushes in and the nut is tightened down onto it. At a right angle to that end is the threaded outlet, and behind it a flat plate with holes for wall screws, so the elbow sits against the wall with the pipe running along it and the outlet pointing outwards. The tap is brass, with a male inlet that screws into the outlet, a spout that faces down once fitted and a handle on top to open and close it.

On the end of the spout sits a quick connector. A garden hose fitted with a matching snap-on connector clips onto it and unclips again when the job is done, so the hose can be coiled away while the tap stays on the wall. Before the tap goes into the elbow, the PTFE tape is wrapped around its thread to seal the joint.

The set suits gardeners and DIY installers bringing a new 32 mm MDPE supply to an outside wall, and anyone replacing the tap on an existing 32 mm line. Once in place it is the everyday outside tap for watering the garden, filling watering cans and buckets, and washing down with a hose.

The set contains exactly three parts: the elbow, the tap with its quick connector and the roll of PTFE tape. Wall screws and plugs, the MDPE pipe and the connector for the hose end are not included, so have them ready before you start.
