IBC S60x6 to Copper Pipe Compression Adapter

This kit connects the outlet of an IBC (intermediate bulk container) tank to copper pipework. An outlet with the S60x6 thread will not take a copper plumbing fitting on its own, so the kit puts a threaded cap between the two: the cap screws onto the tank outlet and a compression fitting at its centre receives the pipe. It is made up for 15mm, 22mm and 28mm copper, and the 28mm size is also available with a lever ball valve in the line.

The cap is black, with raised ribs moulded around its outside, and its centre carries a BSP female socket matched to the part that goes into it: 1/2 inch in the 15mm kit, 3/4 inch in the 22mm kit and 1 inch in both 28mm kits. In the straight kits the brass fitting screws directly into that socket by its male thread, and its other end is a compression joint, where a nut and olive close around the copper pipe as the nut is tightened. No soldering is involved, so the joint is made with ordinary spanners and can be undone again later.

In the With Valve kit for 28mm pipe, a full flow lever ball valve with a 1 inch male end and a 1 inch female end sits between the cap and the compression fitting. A quarter turn of the lever opens or closes the line, so the pipe run can be shut off right at the tank while the tank’s own outlet valve is left alone.

The kit suits anyone who keeps water in an IBC tank and wants to take it into a fixed copper run rather than a hose, whether that run serves a garden tap, a greenhouse or an outbuilding, as well as plumbers who already work in 15mm, 22mm or 28mm copper. Before ordering, check that your tank outlet has the S60x6 thread. Each kit contains only the parts listed for it, so pipe, thread tape, sealant and the tank itself are not included.
