The most popular version of Iron Sulphate with gardeners and greenkeepers etc, is the blue/green Heptahydrate version. It is crystaline and dissolves easily in water.
Ferrous Sulphate or as it is commonly known Iron Sulphate is an excellent will also help to “green up” your lawn, it will also condition and harden your lawn, leaving you with a lush tough lawn.
Can be applied either dry or diluted with water. See dosage details below.
Iron Sulphate is used by professional greenkeepers, lawnkeepers and sports groundsmen throughout the country and indeed worldwide. Mostly used in Spring, Summer and Autumn but can also be used in winter to give your lawn a head start the following growing season.
If you are already moss free and just want to condition and “green up” your lawn, first do a sample patch with a 1% solution (1gm per litre), if it doesnt show much change then increase the percentage, be careful not to overdose the grass though so increase the percentage a little at a time, too strong will damage the lawn.
You can also use Iron Sulphate to acidify your soil for your ericaceous plants such as Azaleas, Camellias and Rhododendrons. The dosage for this is 20-35 gms per litre of water.
